After surgery, arrangements are made for someone to take you home since you are groggy from sedation. Frequently, patients are surprised at how little pain and discomfort there is with eyelid surgery. Generally, once you get home you can take care of yourself. Cold compresses are used to minimize swelling. You can watch television the day of surgery and often you can begin to read and drive within 24- 48 hours following surgery. Most people wear dark glasses to conceal any swelling or bruising when going out during the first 1-2 weeks. We ask you not to bend, lift, strain or exercise for 2 weeks after surgery, since the eyelids are delicate during this time period. There are several office visits after surgery to insure you are healing well and are happy with the results.
